Nankai Gold Fashioned

Our take on the classic Old Fashioned. We've replaced whiskey with our award-winning Nankai Gold Shochu which has been barrel-aged in a variety of casks for balance and depth. Many have told us the Nankai Gold Fashioned is their favorite Old Fashioned so we'd love to hear if you agree.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Nankai Gold Premium Barrel-Aged Shochu
  • 1 tsp Sugar kokuto black sugar recommended
  • 3 dashes Dashes of Angostura Bitters
  • 1 splash Soda water
  • 1 Orange Peel

Instructions

  • Add sugar, Angostura bitters, and splash of soda water to a rocks glass. Muddle.
  • Add 2 oz. of Nankai Gold.
  • Add large ice cube and stir 10 times.
  • Express orange peel over drink (pith facing away) and garnish.

Notes

- You can use less sugar, if you wish. Or experiment with different kinds of sugar. Maple Syrup or Honey are fun twists.
- You can experiment with different kinds of bitters, too. No more than 2-3 dashes are necessary.
- We don't use cherries in our Old Fashioneds but feel free to do you.
